The Vanishing Of Savants

Newton, Einstein; Joyce, Mozart; Kant. The gulf between autist of now and time past is tragic. The computer has castrated god's chosen people.

Terence Tao would be a good potential counter-example. The problem is that the cutting edge of maths has gotten so esoteric that all his results sound like "Proof that every non-intersecting smooth Godel space contains maximally three prime order q-Manifolds" which is just intractable to people without at least an undergraduate level education in mathematics.

"autism" as you are defining it is a modern disease, so there is no point in making comparisons to figures!past.

I miss when being on an imageboard would guarantee interacting with users with at least some degree of familiarity with technology. Look at you, you sound worse than granny with your 'computers bad' claim.

Do you think the omnipresence of computer is good or bad?

Computers are a tool. Their misuse is the fault of the humans behind the wheel.

Is 100 Gecs literally the only contemporary artist you can name? At least a nod to Lopatin, Ferraro, throw a bone to the trannies with Sophie or Vektroid? Seriously I beg you.

has less to do with computers and more to do with time/scale. outliers flatten with time/scale. look at the statistics of the negro leagues or the 1880s american association vs. mlb.

also different cultures value different things. jobs and paul probably look more like the savants you describe in cisleithania than the cultures they ended up in.

Honestly man I just love computers. I don't like when people denigrate them. I like computers more than a lot of things. Not more than people, sure, but more than some types of plants and animals definitely.

Which animals and plants? I've been finding myself loving computers less and less lately, yet my love for plants and animals seems to be increasing proportionally. I do want to hear your rogues gallery of less liked phylum.

I wish I had a very singular desire that kept me from participating in this world. life is distraction. Become a priest now!

I think it's a mistake to let this up to desire. These lives have to be wanted beyond basic desire because the commitment to go against the whole of society is too costly to rely on a very volatile desire. It's too important to let this up to desire.
